Any Audio Converter. The name says everything. It converts audio files, WMV, MP4, WAV, WMA, OGG, AAC, MP3, M4A, MP2, etc. The interesting feature is that it can extract the audio track from video files such as AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, ASF.

mp3DirectCut is a small and efficient tool for cutting MP3 directly. That means you don`t have to decompress your MP3 files into a PCM format to remove parts or copy regions out of it. This saves work, encoding time and disk space. And there is no quality loss through any re-compressions!

This is one of those categories where practically everyone has their own favorite. There are so many, in fact, I could probably devotew an entire website to audio players alone. That being said, here are a few that I can recommend. But feel free to explore others! Choosing an audio player is subjective to say the least.

EvilLyrics isn't the latest Black Sabbath album. It's a program that automatically searches for lyrics as your song is played in your player, it works great with Winamp, Windows Media Player, iTunes, MusicMatch, Foobar, MediaMonkey, Real Player, QCD, AlbumPlayer, Y!Music, XMPlay and more.. It even has a karaoke mode.

CD/DVD Burners

CDBurnerXP is a free application to burn CDs and DVDs, including Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs. It also includes the feature to burn and create ISOs, as well as a multilanguage interface.

InfraRecorder is an open source CD/DVD burner, able to burn your files to physical discs as well as disc image files. It can also record to dual layer DVDs.

CDex is a small application for audio CD ripping, offering support for conversion into multiple formats, like FLAC, MP3, OGG, WMA, VQF or Monkey Audio. You can extend its conversion capabilities by installing input dll plug-ins. I’ve ripped many a CD with it over the years and I must say the results were good.

If you regularly use an audio or video player, at some point you're going to need a codec that didn't come with that particular piece of software. The codec pack that I chose is CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack).

If you'd rather just download codecs as they're needed, then you might want to give CodecInstaller a try. It can analyze a media file to see which codecs are needed to play it, provides a list of the codecs installed in your system and you can unistall or disable any of them and last but not least it helps you to download and install the codecs that you might need.

Mixxx is a free DJ tool designed for both professional and amateur DJs alike. Mixxx allows DJs to mix music live with a clean, simple interface. Furthermore, Mixxx has a number of key features to help DJs in the mix: beat estimation, parallel visual displays, and support for various DJ hardware controllers.

DVD Flick is a free tool to convert various PC video formats to a DVD that can be played on pretty much any standalone DVD player.

DVD Shrink is a classic. Everybody knows it. Some people even sell copies of it. It's a  great tool for backing up your video DVDs.

The GodFather is an intelligent MP3 renamer and organizer, that helps you get rid of all those strange MP3 file names and convert them into a consistent name scheme, based on the artist, song, album information etc. contained in the MP3 tag. The program will scan your MP3 folders and automatically suggest candidates for new names, showing you the old and suggested name in the result window. You can then select which files to rename (if any).
